The most successful graduate from the Braintree Colts sections is without doubt Darren Robinson. Darren was involved at Essex from a young age and having toured Pakistan with the England U19's progressed to make his First Class Debut in 1993 at the age of 20. He spent 11 years at Essex having had the unenviable task of filling the opening birth at the retirement of England great Graham Gooch. Following his time at Essex he spent 3 years at Leicestershire where he skippered them to 4th in the County Championship. He accumulated 10489 First class runs scoring 22 centuries with a high score of 200 v the touring New Zealanders in 1999 and 4488 One Day runs with a high of 137*

Geoff Smith

Although there is not quite as much information about Geoff Smith we know he was a part of the U18's Side formed in 1948. He was offered terms with Essex in 1951 and became the first Braintree CC member to join the County on a full time basis. He gained his County Cap in 1955 and went on to play 243 first class matches scoring 8796 runs and taking 33 wickets. Like Robinson he remained at the club for 11 seasons before retiring and returning to Braintree where he captained the club for the next 3 seasons

Juniors Honours List

The colts section, we think, was first formalised in 1978 under the stewardship fo Len Woolmer and club heartbeat Tommy Gould (although there are mentions of an Under 18 side in the 1940's). Over the years it has been responsible for the majority of the senior players that have graced the clubs 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Sunday XI's with the club's very strong youth progression policy in place for many years. We have also had many of our Junior Dolphins go on to collect District, County and even International honors

Below are listed the trophies we have collected over the years and those who have achieved the next level representation
