U12 v Coggeshall (H)

Tyler Dyer took 1-11 on debut before scoring an impressive 23 as Braintree came up just short

Will Stacey impressed as he took his first wicket for the club

Danny Orr shone with the bat again as he hit 17 from 19 balls

Braintree's U12's once again suffered heartbreak as they came so close to an impressive win over Coggeshall.
Having won the toss and elected to bowl on a a damp green surface, Braintree got off to a solid start with Danny Orr and Lucas hale keeping things tight early on, conceding just 9 runs between them in their 4 overs. It was Zach Peacock, one of Braintree's most improved bowlers this term, that got the break through as he bowled Bond for 12 to leave the visitors 23-1. Tyler Dyer, making his debut for the club, was soon in on the action too as he had Eastall caught at midwicket by Orr for 4 and in the next over Will Stacey, who was bowling for the first time outside of the nets, took his first ever wicket as he had Martin caught at cover by Will Sherry, also for 4. 40-3 quickly became 43-5 as Will Gregory struck twice in quick succession taking a return catch to get rid of Dougie Hopkins and enticing Irwin to chip in the covers to Hale - both dismissed for 0. A Partnership between Feddie Allison and Jacob Tomlin set Coggeshall on the road to recovery as they put on 52 before Allison retired on 32 from 22 balls including a big 6 over square leg. Will Sherry then came on to account for Tomlin, Hale again taking the catch and George Wedge got himself amongst the wickets, having spilt a 1 handed caught and bowled effort, he bowled Doyle for 0. McNaulty (7*) and Archie Hopkins (5*) saw out the last couple of overs and got Coggeshall to a above par 107-7.
Braintree needed a good start but found themselves 14-2 with both Will sherry and Lucas Hale back in the pavilion for 6. Sherry bowled looking to hit legside and Hale finding mid-off looking to hit the leg spinner back over his head. Zach Peacock and Tyler Dyer then set about a recovery and put on 36 before Peacock, having hit a couple of fine boundaries, was caught behind for 13. Dyer and Danny Orr still had victory in mind however and they too put on 36 Dyer was run out pushing for a very tight second run. An excellent 23 from Braintree's newbie capping a fine debut for his new side. Danny Orr continued to push but he was out stumped in the last over for an excellent 17 from 19 balls as Braintree's chase halted at 93
Another excellent effort from the lads - the improvements we have seen this year, despite not many wins, have been great to watch!
