Braintree U11 v Chappel & Wakes Colne U11

Braintree stars of the future got their first win of the season with a convincing win over Chappel & Wakes Colne.

With rain about for most of the day, it was touch and go as to whether the game was to take place but when it did the Junior Dolphins did themselves proud having learned some valuable lessons from the previous outing against Sudbury. The most important of those lessons was the impact of losing wickets and having lost 8 (and 40 runs) against Sudbury, lost just 2 in this outing. Although there were not as many runs off of the bat the extra's and the lack of lost wickets helped propel Braintree to 262. Will Sherry and Joe Chaplin both made 6 but the other six contributed massively by valuing their wickets.

When it came to defending their total Braintree's bowlers all came to the party and took an amazing 9 wickets between them. Luke Huckson took 2-9 and Josh Kay, Lucas Hale and George Wedge all took a wicket each and with some excellent run outs made the game safe.

A great win and some great performances - well done to all of the boys!

Next up is the return fixture as Chappel visit Braintree on Tuesday 31st May at 18:00
